ID Cards

I've been meaning to write about ID cards and how stupid an idea I think they are for a while but every time i've started to do so the blasted PC has crashed. So rather than me bang on about what a crass waste of money they are, how they won't work or speculate on the motives have a look at this site No2ID and even though it hurts me to be fair this is what the Home Office (boo hiss) says about them more

My state's Bureau of Motor Vehicles did an audit of their records and found that there were 130,000 more ID cards and drivers' licenses than there are men, women and children in our country.

ID cards won't make a difference unless governments can insure positive ID when they issue same.

The last word in the first paragraph should read: county instead of country.

ID cards are a mechanism for control of both honest people and criminals. No worries, they'll figure out a way to implant them soon enough.

What I think is funny about these cards is that in the USA the same people who think national ID cards are a great idea are the same ones who think that registering guns is a horrible idea.

I think that the cards will happen, in the USA at least. Somehow it will prevent illegal immigrants and terrorists. Nobody knows exactly how it will work, but Bush says it will and that is all the crazy right wing nut-jobs need.
